He said ACB attached the properties worth crores of rupees belonging to CPO Noor Mohammad Wani and JE housing board Tariq Ahmad Ganie, Bemina, Srinagar. He said a case FIR Number 18/2019 was registered in Police Station (PS) ACB Srinagar against Wani for accumulation of assets disproportionate to known source of income. During the investigation it was found that Wani in his service has raised assets disproportionate to his known source of income. He was later arrested by ACB and searches were conducted at his residence during which various incriminating documents related to the assets and other properties were seized. The land and building valued at 41 lakh have been attached by ACB in the case. The market value of the asset in in crore, he said.He said a case FIR No. 18/2020 was registered in PS ACB Srinagar against Ganie on the allegations that huge suspicious transactions have been made in his various bank accounts by the contractors and beneficiaries which have been obtained by him in the form of gratification and consideration pertaining to the various works of the department. During the course of verification, it was revealed that Ganie holds various accounts in different branches of J&K Bank. He said as per the salary statement provided by the Housing Board, from January Ist 2018 to September 30, 2020, the accused JE has received a net payable amount of salary of Rs 10,08,892, which stands deposited in his salary account(s). However, it was found that in the same period, an amount of approximately Rs 3 crore 30 lacs was deposited in six accounts of Ganie through various transactions, which is disproportionate to his income (approx 3000%). It was also revealed that the amount was deposited in his account through various transactions made by some contractors which have been executing works of the Housing Board, where the JE was posted, thereby clearly indicating that the JE was receiving huge amounts as illegal gratification and consideration with respect to execution of works from these contractors.
He said by acting in the aforesaid manner, Ganie, has abused his official position and has obtained undue pecuniary advantage through illegal gratification from various contractors by way of various deposits accumulated in his bank accounts.
This act, he said, also tantamount to raising of disproportionate assets.
Searches were also conducted at the residential house of accused at Chandrigam, Tral, Pulwama, where incriminating material was found. Three plots of land valued 29 lakh have been attached by ACB. The market value of the assets are in crores.
