Rehana Batul reviews developmental needs of highway town Ramban

RAMBAN, Oct 20: Administrative Secretary, Department of Tribal Affairs, Rehana Batul, who is also the incharge secretary of District Ramban today said that the benefits of ‘My Town My Pride’(MTMP) programme will percolate down to grassroots level and pave way for holistic development of urban areas. She was speaking at a meeting convened to take stock of developmental requirements of Ramban Town. District Development Commissioner, (DDC) Ramban Nazim Zai Khan, ADC Ashok Kumar, CPO Dr. Kasturi Lal, PD NHAI, CEO, Municipal Council Members, district and sectoral officers besides other concerned attended the meeting. Rehana Batul also inspected water filtration plant at Ramban, proposed development projects within the town and various bottlenecks hindering the development of town.
On the 2nd day of the MTMP, the Secretary handed over the cheques and keys to PMAY-U beneficiaries and land ownership papers to CEO Ramban as identified by the district administration Ramban for the construction of Solid Waste Management Plant. At the meeting of MC members and district and sectoral officers, she discussed the issues highlighted by the MC members and general public during public interactions held during the last two days. She also discussed the issue of creation of more MC wards and expansion of newly upgraded Municipal Council limits. She directed the officers to formulate plans keeping in mind that Ramban is a developing town having a potential to become a business hub because of its topography and centeral location on Jammu-Srinagar national Highway.
She directed the CEO, MC Ramban to adopt a proactive approach to resolve issues related to the development of the town for the convenience of the public. PHE department was directed to complete the water supply scheme being executed for the ward No 6 and 7 besides ensuring cleanliness of Filtration Plant Ramban with all protective measures.
Rehana Batul directed the DSWO to intensify the registration of different pension cases besides maintaining transparency in the system. The Food Civil Supplies & Consumer Affairs Department was directed to verify the BPL ration cards to rectify the list of beneficiaries besides ensuring quality of ration supply. While reviewing the status of National Highway Four Laning Project, the Secretary directed the NHAI to speed up the pace of progress on the prestigious national project and implement all the provisions to maintain a pollution free environment alongside the construction sites.
