SMI condemns Hathras incident, mishandling of case
10/21/2020 12:16:19 AM

EARLY TIMES REPORT

JAMMU, Oct 20: Social Movement of India (SMI) condemned the shameful incident of Hathras (UP) gangrape & Murder of a 19-year old teenager girl of SC (Mulnivasi) community by the four hardcore criminals of so called upper caste and the victim ultimately succumbed on 29-09-2020. The SMI office bearers also condemned the role of Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh Yogi Adityanath, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah, UP Police, DM of the District, mainstream electronic and print media of the country, and the local communities of so called upper castes belonging to that area. The SMI office bearers expressed shock over the way the case is being handled by the UP Government till date.
Addressing a press conference here today, Advocate Ashok Kumar Basotra raised the issue that the concerned UP Police didn't take any action against the hardcore criminals involved despite the fact that number of complaints had been filed by the deceased victim and her family members against them within last six months of the incident. Even no FIR with real facts was lodged against the criminals involved for eight days after the incident. Moreover, no medical examination of the deceased victim was got conducted by the UP police within seventy two hours after the incident so as to take the samples for examination by FSL to confirm the alleged rape and the deceased victim was not taken to AIIMS immediately after the incident for saving her life so that the criminals involved in this incident could be exonerated. Basotra further asked under which provision of law and on whose directions, the UP police didn't hand over the dead body of the deceased victim to her family members after the post mortem and destroyed the evidence by burning the dead body at 2:30 a.m. midnight despite strong opposition by her family members. Basotra further raised the issue as to why and under whose instructions the lawyers, the media persons and other social activists are being denied the approach to the family of the victim. Basotra asked as to who is allowing the so called upper caste people of the area to hold meetings/panchayats in favour of the hardcore criminals and also to intimidate the family members of the deceased victim. Finally, the office bearers of SMI mentioned many more such incidents happened with SCs, STs, OBCs, Muslims, Sikhs & Christians in different parts of the country.
