Jammu, Oct 20: To commemorate the “World Statistics Day” today Department of Statistics, Govt. Degree College, Udhampur organized online symposium on “Role of Statistics in Planning and Administration”.
The department has called for four to five minutes of videos which is to be submitted online. Out of the total eighteen participants, Tavneet Kour, Sem-6th, GDC Udhampur stood 1st, Pallavi-Sem-6th and Sania-Sem-1st GDC Udhampur were adjudged 2nd, Rahat-Sem-1st GDC Udhampur and Ayush Slathia-B.Com. Honours ABST, Samrat Prithvi Raj Chauhan, Govt. College Ajmer Rajasthan were adjudged 3rd.
Dr. Ajay Kumar, HoD Maths, Dr. Ankush Bharti, HoD Statistics, Ankita Sharma, Dept. of Statistics were the adjudicators for the event.
In his presidential message, the principal appreciated the efforts of the Statistics Department and further instructed to conduct such programmes more frequently in the future. He emphasized the role of statistics in current scenario. He added good data can save lives and data is such a force which can enforce to take good and quick decisions.
