KALAKOTE, Oct 20: Member Jammu Kashmir Service Selection Board, Pritam Lal Atri, paid a visit to GDC Kalakote along with the ADC Kalakote, Krishan Lal (KAS) accompanied by Vijay Kumar Suri, Agya Paul Raina, President and Vice-President of the municipal committee, Kalakote and others under the “MY TOWN MY PRIDE” programme. The team was accorded a warm welcome by the staff and the Principal of GDC Kalakote, Dr. Romesh Kr. Gupta, keeping in view all the precautionary measures and SoP’s of the Covid 19 Pandemic. While interacting with the visiting team, Dr. Romesh Kr. Gupta briefed various schemes that are being currently provided to the college students by the higher education department for their welfare and future development. He told that at present scholarship for Pahari Speaking students is being offered. He further added, besides this scholarship, the college had also set up a facilitation center for Pradhan Mantri Special Scholarship Scheme (PMSSS) and other scholarship schemes belong to ST, SC, OBC categories are also offered. Dr. Romesh Kr. Gupta told that the college is in way of progress. At present, only Arts Stream is there in which about Nine Departments are working, which include English, Hindi, Urdu, Arabic, EVS, Economics, Education, Political Science and Sociology but very soon Science stream will also be introduced in the college if the administration provides us space with the capacity of at least 10 (ten) classrooms till the completion of new building. He further added, besides these academic Departments, college has also the NSS unit and Red Cross Club which are working very actively since their establishment in the college and the Sports Department which offered various indoor and outdoor games for the physical and mental development of the students.
Moreover, it was brought to their notice that, the college administration is leaving no stone unturned to make sure that the development work of the college gains pace with each passing day. Pritam Lal Atri, ADC Krishan Lal (KAS) , Vijay Kumar Suri, Agya Paul Raina listened very patiently and responding to which, the team assured that, the local administration will surely provide the much needed support so that the development process does not come to a halt. Lastly, Pritam Lal Atri , ADC kalakote Krishan Lal (KAS) and Dr. Romesh Kr. Gupta, along with the President and Vice President Municipal committee, kalakote inaugurated the newly installed water purifier at the college premises in presence of the other dignitaries, teaching and non-teaching staff of the college.
