Pleas of suffering KPs go unheard, govt fails to pay attention: JTC

JAMMU, Oct, 21: It is very unfortunate and shocking on the part of Government of Jammu and Kashmir that pleas of suffering community go unheard and no attention was being paid to aggrieved Kashmiri Pandit migrants who are on hunger chain strike for the last 20 days demanding enhancement of cash assistance in favour of relief holders besides one job to one family member of every house hold.
Lambasting the lackadaisical approach of administration of Jammu and Kashmir Union Territory and BJP government at the centre, Jagti Tenement Committee (JTC) president Shadi Lal Pandita said that Kashmiri Pandit migrants have been the worst sufferers who bore the three decade old brunt of militancy are living in exile in Jammu and other parts of the country as refugees with a little support from the government.
While addressing a gathering of KP migrants who are sitting on chain hunger strike for the last 20 days at Jagti camp in favour of their demands, Pandita said that a KP relief holder family who is getting a monthly cash assistance of Rs 13000 from the government has to meet all exigencies of day -to-day life in the same amount when the prices of essential commodities have gone sky high but the helmsmen are reluctant to understand the gravity of the situation.
He said our demands are very little but important and genuine because our youth are unemployed, our future is totally dark and at this point of time we need help from respective governments of centre and Jammu and Kashmir.
A government job to one person of each household is our prime demand which should be materialized as soon as possible to overcome the financial crisis the community is going through,
Pandita maintained.
He condemned the statement of Lieutenant Governor of J&K UT, Manoj Sinha that 6,000 posts have been given to Kashmiri Pandit migrants and the accommodation will be set up in Kashmir valley for package employees only. Pandita clarified that Dr Manmohan Singh, the then Primer Minister of India had given 6,000 posts during the Congress government and passed a plan to build 6,000 flats for them. In BJP regime nothing was done till date he further maintained.
