11 Motorized tricycles,10 wheel chairs, sanitation kits distributed among beneficiaries in Rajouri

RAJOURI, Oct, 21: Motorized tricycles and wheel chairs were were distributed by Deputy Commissioner Rajouri, Mohammad Nazir Sheikh, here at a function organized by Department of Social Welfare Rajouri under the Block Diwas programme.
In all, 11 Motorized tricycles, 10 wheelchairs, 05 Hearing aid kits provided by J&K Rehabilitation Council and 50 sanitation kits by the social welfare department were distributed among the beneficiaries, informed District Social Welfare Officer, Wakeel Ahmed Bhat.
The DC said that the motorized tricycles and wheelchairs provide mobility to people with physical/developmental disabilities and allow them to move around with a sense of confidence.
"It would play a pivotal role in earning their livelihoods with dignity and without any inconvenience", the Deputy Commissioner added.
The Deputy Commissioner also handed over a cheque of RS 6.75 lakh to the dependents of deceased Shan Mohammad of Rajouri, under employees' compensation act, who died in a tragic Road accident. Shan Mohammad was a driver by profession.
It is pertinent to mention here that the Block Diwas Programmes are being organized in the district with the sole aim to ensure responsive and accountable governance.
Similar, Block Diwas Programmes were organized in Sunderbani, Nowshera, Kalakote and Thanamandi, where ADC/SDMs along with the Block Development council chairpersons presided over the functions and listened to public issues.
District Development Commissioner Rajouri, Mohammad Nazir Sheikh chaired the Block Diwas programme organised here at Government Boys Higher Secondary School Rajouri.
Senior superintendent of Police, Chandan Kholi; Block Development Council Chairperson Rajouri, Darbar Choudhary; Additional Deputy Commissioner, Sher Singh; Assistant Commissioner Development, Sushil Khajuria; District Panchayat Officer, Chanderkant Bhagat, District Social Welfare Officer, Wakeel Ahmed Bhat; Assistant Labour Commissioner, Angrez Singh; Tehsildar Rajouri Mohd Rafiq and other concerned district Officer attended the Block Diwas proceedings.
