Backed by Mehbooba, Imran Ansari ousted Farooq from JKCA
PDP president forgets past, expresses concern over NC president’s grilling by Enforcement Directorate

Early Times Report

Srinagar, Oct 21: Enforcement Directorate tightening noose around National Conference president Farooq Abdullah in connection with a multi crore scam in Jammu and Kashmir Cricket Association (JKCA) has evoked sharp reaction from PDP president Mehbooba Mufti. An analyst while talking to Early Times said, “Mehbooba Mufti seems to have forgotten that when she was the chief minister of erstwhile J&K State, she ensured that Farooq is removed as JKCA president and her own party man takes over the reins of the Association. As the J&K chief minister, Mebpooba Mufti had blamed Farooq Abdullah of ruining the career of the cricketers from J&K and had alleged that he had looted JKCA.” It may be recalled that the then sports minister in the PDP led government Imran Raza Ansari had staged a coup against Farooq Abdullah and had shunted him out of the JKCA. After Ansari took the control of the JKCA, National Conference and Peoples Democratic Party left no opportunity to taunt each other. Even some PDP leaders labe
Double Standards
ed the NC president as a “big fraud.”
The Enforcement Directorate has been investigating the JKCA scam for the past few years, but the probe was expedited last year after the imposition of Governor’s rule in Jammu and Kashmir. The ED had questioned Farooq Abdullah in connection with the scam just few days before the revocation of Article 370. During this week Farooq Abdullah has been questioned twice by the ED team.
An observer said, “Mehbooba Mufti, who just one year ago was the most vocal critic of the NC and Farooq Abdullah has changed her colour like a chameleon and has become Abdullah’s sympathizer. She changing her stand has exposed the double standards of Kashmir centric leaders.”
He said, “Mehbooba should stop raising hue and cry as no one is above the law and the ED is doing its job. If Farooq Abdullah is found guilty he will have to face the law of the land, if he is proven innocent no one will touch him. Someone needs to tell Mehbooba that VIP culture in J&K is over and no one enjoys the impunity anymore.”
