NGEU JU token strike continues, takes out protest rally
10/22/2020 11:04:38 PM
Early Times Report
JAMMU, Oct, 22: The ongoing three hours token strike of Non-Gazetted Employees Union (NGEU) of University of Jammu (JU) entered 36th day today.
Led by Vijay Kumar, President of the Union, the protesting employees organized a rally around the University Campus along with all the supporting members of the Union and staff. The rally was dispersed peacefully at 2 pm at the main gate of the University. Later addressing the protesting employees, Vijay Kumar lauded the unity of the employees and said that they stood like rock in the protest during this pandemic and continued with their token strike for more than a month in front of the Administration Block regarding their long pending demands.
He regretted that instead of solving the issues the University Authorities are hell bent in anti-employees propaganda regarding their peaceful agitation and warned authorities to solve their three burning issues at that earliest i.e. implementation of Enhanced Grade Pay Rs 1800, counting of service of helpers, regularization of HGRC employees and rest seventeen other demands.
He informed that the Vice Chancellor has constituted a "Coordination Committee". A meeting of "Coordination Committee" and NGEU was held in the office chamber of the Registrar on 21/10/2020. The committee gave fake assurances that all the demands of NGEU are under process and shall be finalized soon.
The NGEU urged the Vice Chancellor and Registrar University of Jammu to look into its demands and issued an order in this regard. Later on a meeting of the executive body held in the office chamber of President Vijay Kumar wherein it was decided that the work of Safai Karamcharis will be suspended in upcoming days.
The Union also requested the Lt Governor to take prompt action on the demands of the employees which are lying pending for a long time and provide justice to them.
