EARLY TIMES REPORT

JAMMU, Oct 22: Vishal Khatri Sabha (VKS) on Thursday hailed Lt Governor of Jammu and Kashmir Manoj Sinha for revoking decision to impose any property tax in the Union Territory. In a meeting held today Vishal Khatri Sabha J&K President Devender Seth said that decision has relieved the mounting apprehensions among the people of J&K. Seth also hailed Rs 1,350 crore economic stimulus package to rebuild the economy and encourage business for the benefit of the people of Jammu and Kashmir and to help the business community overcome the hardships of the Covid-19 pandemic.
Seth also welcomed Union Cabinet’s approval for the extension of the Market Intervention Scheme (MIS) for procurement of apples in J&K for the year 2020-21 which will ensure optimum prices to the apple farmers and give necessary fillip to the UT’s economy.
Seth urged LG Administration to ensure maximum utilization of industries, manufacturing, service sector, village industries, handicraft, tourism, and technology to create more jobs in rural areas of Jammu and Kashmir. Seth maintained that J&K needs a sustainable solution to strengthen its economic base, which can only come from growth at grass roots level. Fostering innovative mindset, increasing interest in entrepreneurship is often a catalyst that drives development objectives including growth, employment, and equity, he added.
Seth emphasized on the need for small industrial clusters at tehsil levels to boost handicrafts and advocated for improving the ease of doing business, removing red-tape and leakages by following a Single Window Policy along with clear vision document for industry in J&K.
