VC SKUAST-J takes stock of School of Biotechnology

Jammu, Oct 22: Prof. J.P. Sharma Vice Chancellor, Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences & Technology of Jammu (SKUAST-J), along with the concerned statutory officers visited School of Biotechnology (SBT) to have one-to-one interaction with faculty members and staff; and to have first hand appraisal of the on-going activities there.
Prof. Sharma asserted that the staff engaged on contractual basis at School of Biotechnology be given recognized positions and their emoluments may be revised after approval of the competent authority. He advised that Head of the Divisions should be proactive in presenting issues that they are facing. He showed confidence in the competence of faculty working at School of Biotechnology as well as lauded the achievements of the students at national and international levels. The VC appreciated the self-sustainable functioning model of the School and assured his full support to School of Biotechnology on all fronts in future. Prof. D.P. Abrol, Dean, Faculty of Agriculture thanked Vice Chancellor for his vision and guidance in making university a vibrant institute and creating a cordial environment to interact at the Divisional level.
He appreciated the ‘Talk at Lawn’ initiative of the Vice Chancellor for getting feedback from the ground level. Earlier, Prof. R.K. Salgotra, Coordinator, School of Biotechnology welcomed the Vice Chancellor and apprised him about the developmental, academic and research programmes of the School. He presented the list of newly submitted research projects to different funding agencies as well as academic achievements of the students and faculty members.
