JK reports 584 new cases of Corona Virus, 10 fresh deaths in 24 hours

SRINAGAR, Oct 22: The union territory of Jammu & Kashmir reported 584 new cases of Corona Virus and as a result of the same the total number of positive cases reached 90,166. The death toll reached 1,412 following 10 fresh deaths in past 24 hours.
Srinagar district reported 127 fresh cases of COVID-19 followed by Baramulla district 104 cases, Jammu district 103 cases, Kupwara district 40 cases, Pulwama district 30 cases, Anantnag and Ganderbal districts 27 cases each, Kishtwar district 22 cases, Budgam district 19 cases, Doda district 15 cases, Samba district 13 cases, Udhampur and Kathua districts 12 cases each, Bandipora district nine cases, Kulgam district seven cases, Poonch district five cases, Reasi district four cases, Rajouri and Ramban districts three cases each and Shopian district two cases.
Srinagar and Jammu districts each reported three fresh Corona Virus deaths followed by a death each in Doda, Budgam, Bandipora and Ganderbal districts. So far 944 virus related deaths have occurred in Kashmir division while as in Jammu division the number of such deaths is 468.
The Jammu & Kashmir administration through the media bulletin informed that 584 new positive cases of novel Corona Virus (COVID-19), 192 from Jammu division and 392 from Kashmir division, have been reported today thus taking the total number of positive cases in Jammu and Kashmir to 90,166. Also 10 COVID-19 deaths have been reported; four from Jammu division and six from Kashmir Division.
Moreover, 710 more COVID-19 patients have recovered and discharged from various hospitals including 399 from Jammu Division and 311 from Kashmir Division. Out of 90,166 positive cases, 7,952 are active positive, 80,802 have recovered and 1,412 have died; 468 in Jammu division and 944 in Kashmir division. Out of 21, 00,760 test results available, 20, 10,594 samples have tested negative till date. Till date 6, 37,799 persons have been enlisted for observation which included 19,765 persons in home quarantine including facilities operated by government, 7,952 in isolation and 51,461 in home surveillance. Besides, 5, 57,209 persons have completed their surveillance period.
The bulletin said that Srinagar has 18,247 positive cases, 1,800 active positive, 16,107 recovered, 340 deaths; Budgam has 5,745 positive cases, 355 active positive, 5,299 recovered, 91 deaths; Baramulla has 5,452 positive cases, 1,392 active positive, 3,923 recovered, 137 deaths; Pulwama has 4,507 positive cases, 293 active positive, 4,135 recovered, 79 deaths; Kupwara has 4,175 positive cases, 351 active positive, 3,753 recovered, 71 deaths.
“Anantnag has 4,086 positive cases, 345 active positive, 3,670 recovered, 71 deaths; Bandipora has 3,921 positive cases, 263 active positive, 3,615 recovered, 43 deaths; Ganderbal has 3,386 positive cases, 240 active positive, 3,115 recovered, 31 deaths; Kulgam has 2,432 positive cases, 107 active positive, 2279 recovered, 46 deaths and Shopian has 2,139 positive cases, 79 active positive, 2,025 recovered, 35 deaths,” reads the bulletin.
The bulletin said that Jammu has 16,555 positive cases, 954 active positive, 15,358 recovered, 243 deaths; Rajouri has 3,149 positive cases, 235 active positive, 2869 recovered, 45 deaths; Udhampur has 2,608 positive cases, 121 active positive, 2,460 recovered, 27 deaths; Doda has 2,557 positive cases, 159 active positive, 2,355 recovered, 43 deaths; Kathua has 2,360 positive cases, 47 active positive, 2,283 recovered, 30 deaths.
“Poonch has 2,175 positive cases, 406 active positive, 1,747 recovered, 22 deaths; Samba has 2,111 positive cases, 404 active positive, 1,682 recovered, 25 deaths; Kishtwar has 1,812 positive cases, 217 active positive, 1,581 recovered, 14 deaths; Ramban has 1,536 positive cases, 84 active positive, 1,440 recovered, 12 deaths and Reasi has 1,213 positive cases, 100 active positive, 1,106 recovered, seven deaths,” reads the bulletin. Out of 90,166 positive cases in J&K, 9,508 have been reported as travelers.
The bulletin has informed the people that, the best way to protect themselves from COVID-19 is by maintaining physical distance of at least two meters from others, frequently cleaning hands with an alcohol based hand sanitizer or washing them with soap and water and following good respiratory etiquette and hygiene. As a measure for social distancing in public places and workplaces wearing a face cover is compulsory.
