After denying rights to Valmikis, Mehbooba plays ‘Dalit card’ !
10/24/2020 12:48:01 AM

Early Times Report

Jammu, Oct 23: In her first press conference after release from detention PDP chief Mehbooba Mufti openly tried to play Muslim and Dalit cards while targeting BJP for, what she alleged, bulldozing constitution of the country.
Ironically it was PDP and other constituents of ‘Peoples’ Alliance of Gupkar Declaration’ who deprived Valmikis and West Pakistani Refugees (WPRs)-majority of them are Dalits, of the basic human rights to live a dignified life. It was all due to constituents of ‘Gupkar Declaration’ that three generation of hundreds of these Dalits families lived lives of slaves in the democratic India. While addressing a press conference at Srinagar, Mehbooba Mufti alleged that the BJP government was trying to demonize minorities and Dalits but she failed to give any substantial proof to establish her allegations.
In her press conference, she made it point to repeatedly mention Dalits only to draw attention of the media towards ongoing campaign in the nation after Hathras rape case. Mehbooba tried to play Muslims as well as Dalit cards but without any concrete evidences. She alleged that BJP was abusing the brute majority at its command to attack minorities and Dalits across the country.
Interestingly Mehbooba Mufti failed to give any argument that how Dalits of J&K were going to be affected after abrogation of Article 370 and 35-A. She forgets that it was Article 35-A which deprived hundreds of Dalits of their constitutional rights.
Living in many different areas of Jammu and Udhampur districts, these Valmikis were the worst victims of the blackmail politics of Kashmir centric parties be it National Conference or PDP. After depriving Valmikis of basic human rights, Mehbooba is now playing Dalit cards.
