Naqeeb criticizes amendment in CSR, calls it step in wrong direction
10/24/2020 11:35:39 PM
Early Times Report
JAMMU, Oct, 24: Congress leader Advocate Mohd Asif Naqeeb criticized LG administration over the amendment of Civil Service Rules which now accord the government with powers to retire any government employee after 22 years of service or 48 years of age. He asserted that this amendment is a wrong step in a wrong direction and it has a potential of creating a discord within the state machinery, can create a breeding ground for corruption and can also open gates for vindictive forced retirements. Advocate Asif while taking a jibe at the BJP's development claims remarked that ever since the dissolution of the special status of Jammu and Kashmir the development model of this government has remained focused on disempowering the local people in all possible ways, "One after another thoughtless legislations are imposed on people bypassing the spirits of democracy, these amendments are just another offshoot of a series of unjust and thoughtless forced legislations on the people of Jammu and Kashmir" he said. He also observed that such legislations which have no sanction or the approval of the people of Jammu and Kashmir are forced on them and go totally against the soul and spirit of democracy which has become a hallmark of this government ever since it came to power in 2014, Naqeeb cited examples of demonetization, farm bills and the abrogation of Article 370 in which he indicated that how this dispensation "totally sidelined the will of people, constitutional mechanism and the opposition thus adopting a dictatorial approach and getting laws passed in the absence of opposition and by confining people under curbs." Naqeeb pressed on the need of immediate review of such a "thoughtless and forced amendment" as legislations of such nature according to him are not only affecting the federal machinery of the country but also pose a threat to the liberal nature of India's constitution.
