| Citizen Forum terms Mehbooba Mufti's statement irresponsible | | |

JAMMU, Oct, 24: Former State Treasurer PDP and President Citizen's Forum R K Chadha has described as "irresponsible" the statement of the PDP chief & former Chief Minister, Mehbooba Mufti that she would not hold the Indian flag till the restoration of Article 370 and that the erstwhile state flag gained its place again. True to her nature Mufti has made a rash statement without sparing a thought for the interests of the people of the territory of Jammu and Kashmir who are desperately seeking peace. Barring a handful of misguided and fanatics all others want to swim in the national mainstream in their best interest and in the interest of their children, he said.
Chadha rued that she has made such a mindless statement without even thinking for a minute that she is the daughter of former Home Minister of India, Mufti Mohammed Sayeed whom she considers her political guru also, who steadfastly stood guarding the national flag and never made statements like resolution of Kashmir problem in his entire political career despite having a strong view at times on the issue. Perhaps she has also forgotten that as Lok Sabha MP she also had taken oath under the protection of the same Tricolour. He further said that such an irresponsible statement would only isolate her politically and she is being naive if she is thinking that this was the route to her political recovery. By making such a statement she has clearly disregarded the sentiment of people of Jammu region and who would be left with no option but to chart their own political course through demanding a separate state. |
