10/25/2020 12:30:27 AM
Early Times Report

Srinagar, Oct 24: Alleging that BJP disrespected the National Flag after the leaders of saffron party carried it to justify rapists of a 9-year-old girl, former Chief Minister and president of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Mehbooba Mufti on Saturday said tri-colour stands for diversity and peaceful co-existence amongst all.
She was reacting to demand by BJP leaders for her arrest under seditions charges after she had said at a press conference here on Friday that she will not take the national flag in her hands until the flag of erstwhile state was restored.
She had said that relations with national flag was because of state flag and until it is restored she will not hoist the tri-colour.
Taking to micro blogging site Twitter Mehbooba, who was released recently after 14 months detention, said “ flag stands for diversity and peaceful coexistence amongst all. If anyone has insulted the tiranga it is BJP that persecutes minorities and sows division and hatred. The flag was disrespected the day BJP leaders carried it to justify rapists of a 9 year old. Spare me the lessons”.
She was replying to a tweet which reads “ Jammu and Kashmir BJP has demanded the arrest of PDP chief and former J&K Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti for her "seditious" remarks.
BJP and other saffron parties protested in Jammu against Mehbooba for her flag remarks and demanded her arrest.
