Actions Speak Louder Than Words

Former Jammu and Kashmir chief minister and president of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Mehbooba Mufti has stirred the Hornet’s Nest yet again by stating that she won’t lift the tricolor till J&K gets its state flag back.
Mehbooba insulting the tricolor has evoked sharp reactions across the country and people are demanding that she should be booked for sedition. Her utterances have proved that the government’s decision to keep her under detention for nearly 14-months was correct. Since the day she has been released she is making every possible attempt to instigate the people by issuing controversial statements.
The PDP chief is trying to hoodwink the people by promising them that Kashmir centric leaders will get the Article 370 and the State flag back. She is trying to build another narrative and is toeing the line of the separatists. It appears that she wants to become another Geelani but she needs to bear in mind that the Centre won’t allow anyone to become the Hurriyat hawk again.
If Mehbooba fails to tender an apology for insulting the national flag she will again end up in a prison and this time around it won’t be a VIP prison, it can be Tihar Jail where other Kashmir centric leaders and separatists have been lodged.
Mehbooba Mufti is talking about not holding the tricolor, National Conference president, Farooq Abdullah, is seeking China’s help. This rhetoric is intolerable and both of them are abusing their right of freedom of speech.
If Kashmir centric leaders don’t mend their ways it can send a wrong message. They are talking in the language of Pakistan and if they are so impressed by Pakistan and China, then they should pack their bags and go to these countries.
It’s India which tolerates their nuisance had they been the citizens of any other country they could not have even dared to speak word against their nation. Leaders like Mehbooba Mufti and Farooq Abdullah should bear in mind that India has changed. In “New India” there is no place for the leaders who are sowing the seeds of discord and are preaching secessionism and sedition.
These leaders should remain prepared to face the consequences as there are no takers for their assurance that they are not anti-nationals. Their actions are speaking louder than their words. They can’t even dream of ruling J&K again and desperation is evident.
