Early Times Report
JAMMU, Oct, 26: We The Human Forum for Nature and Mankind in collaboration with Swasthya Evam Shiksha Charitable Trust New Delhi, today, distributed 80 COVID-19 Hygiene kits and two Usha Sewing machines among poor people of village Halqa in Marh block of Jammu district. Apart from Capt Lalit Sharma IFS Retd APCCF Vice Chairman of We The Humans, its executive body members Mohinder Kumar & Sana, leading social activists of border area Lala Devi Dass Sharma, Ashwani Sharma, Mukesh Master, Sushma Kumari and a number of local people were present on the occasion.
Giving awareness about COVID19 Hygiene kits, Retd APCCF Capt Lalit Sharma IFS Vice Chairman of We The Humans said that people need to save themselves from the pandemic by taking utmost precautions suggested by the Government of India and Indian Medical Association. Use of alcohol based sanitizer, regular washing of hands & clothes with use of facemasks is essential till the emergence of a vaccine for COVID19.
Capt Lalit Sharma exhorted the agriculturist community to shift back to traditional systems of farming and stop usage of hazardous chemical pesticides, fertilizers weedicides & herbicides. These chemical fertilizers/ pesticides not only affect fertility of our agricultural fields in longer run but also are reason behind increasing cases of cancer & serious gastro/ kidney/ liver patients in J&K. Captain Lalit Sharma further advised farmers to desist from malpractice of burning stubble & root stock after harvesting is over. Stubble burning is a serious problem in North India and this may aggravate the conditions of patients, especially our children & elders having respiratory problems. The mortality rate in COVID19 patients might also increase drastically because of highly risky levels of air pollution due to stubble burning by the farming community. Demanding for a large scale concentrated efforts by the UT administration to free all types of encroachments on the state as well forest lands and demolish all commercial/ residential structures raised on state/ forest lands in J&K, Captain Lalit Sharma, also, demanded for allotment of five marla land each to landless families falling in either BPL or lower income groups on subsidised rates, so as to enable them to avail benefits of Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana.
Lala Devi Dass Sharma also spoke on the occasion and expressed thanks to “We The Humans” for providing Usha Sewing machines to two widow ladies in this border village and distributing free COVID19 Hygiene kits among people.
