National Conference distances itself from Mehbooba Mufti's flag stance
10/27/2020 12:25:52 AM

Early Times Report

Jammu, Oct 26: The National Conference (NC) on Monday distanced itself from PDP chief Mehbooba Mufti’s controversial remark on the national flag.
Addressing the media on Friday, former Jammu and Kashmir CM Mehbooba Mufti had said that she will not hoist the Indian tricolour till Jammu and Kashmir's special status and separate flag are restored.
The NC and PDP are part of the newly-formed People’s Alliance for the Gupkar Declaration, a forum to push for the restoration of J&K’s special status and statehood.
However, NC leader Devender Singh Rana on Monday said that the National Conference will not compromise on the nation’s sovereignty and integrity.
Slamming Mehbooba Mufti, Devender Rana said ‘the nation's sovereignty and integrity are supreme’.
“Jammu-based NC leaders raised concern over Mehbooba Mufti's remarks in our meeting with Farooq Abdullah and Omar Abdullah.
They have assured us that no statement will be made by any Gupkar Alliance leader that harms the nation's interests,” Devender Singh Rana told news channel.
