Early Times Report
KISHTWAR, Oct, 27: President Public Awareness Front Kishtwar Shakir Siddqui today has criticised PHE Department now named as Jal Shakti Department for their failure in providing the drinking water to the inhabitants of Kishtwar while at the same time the department also fail to handle water supply lines in the area as water leakage is a major issue faced by the people. Siddqui said that people of Kishtwar are already suffering from water shortage and the water stress conditions faced by the people can be controlled if these leakages at many places will be plugged added that some of the ardent examples of water leakage could be commonly seen in areas near Sainik Sarai and old DC office , which must be repaired and handled well by the Jal Shakti Department. He said that funds to the tune of worth several lakhs are being withdrawn on account of water repairing lines and water leakages, but nothing is visible on ground. Siddqui said that at many places the water pipes passes through drains wherein dirty water got mixed with drinking water thus further puts the lives of the people at risk of communicable diseases. Siddqui urged upon the District Administration to kindly take the note of lapses on part of PHE department and get the water leakages plugged as same could save thousands of litters of drinking water every day.
