| Paper cup, plate manufacturing unit established | | |  Early Times Report
REASI, Oct, 29: A disposable paper cup and plate making unit, funded under the Prime Minister's Employment Generation Programme for a group of women entrepreneurs was inaugurated by the Deputy Commissioner Reasi, Indu Kanwal Chib, here at Godhar Khalsa on Thursday.
The Project was sponsored by the District Industry Centre Reasi at a total project cost of Rs 10.00 lakh. It is a 2nd such unit in district Reasi. The PMEGP is a credit-linked subsidy program administered by the Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises, Government of India. Khadi and Village Industries Commission (KVIC), is the nodal agency of the scheme. At the Union Territory level, the scheme is implemented through KVIC, Khadi Village Industries Board (KVIB), and District Industries Centres.
The unemployed youth are provided loan facility with a provision of subsidy for the establishment of their own business.
The Deputy Commissioner said that the promotion of Self-employment and enterprises forms core of Atmanirbhar schemes and the Lieutenant Governor's administration of the JKUT is committed to provide the required platform and other logistics to aspiring rural entrepreneurs of the district.
The establishment of Cup and Plate Manufacturing Unit will provide employment to fourteen persons and as disposable cups and plates are environment friendly, it will also reduce the reliability on the single use plastic which will ultimately help in mitigating the pollution generation chances in the district.
The district administration Reasi has also decided to link the project with the market to raise the per capita income of those associated with the project. |
