10/30/2020 12:04:30 AM

Early times Report

Jammu, Oct 29: As BJP’s chief executive councillor (CEC) of out-going Ladakh Autonomous Hill Development Council (LAHDC) Leh, Gyal P Wangyal has lost election, the party is finding it difficult to elect new CEC. BJP’s outgoing CEC has not only lost election from Sakti seat, AAP candidate was runner on this segment. Congress’s Rigzin Tsering emerged victorious from this seat.
Highly placed sources said that hectic lobbying has been started to elect a new CEC as the party is likely to depute some central leaders from Delhi to facilitate the process. Ashok Koul, general secretary (organization) J&K and Ladakh BJP has already reached Leh to evolve consensus on the name of CEC by involving all senior leaders. Not only BJP has to elect CEC with consensus but also executive councilors (ECs) smoothly.
“As of now the party is mulling over names of three candidates for CEC but final decision would be taken only after consultation with all elected councilors”, sources said and added that the name of CEC was expected to be finalized tomorrow. In the recently held election, BJP won 15 seats while Congress and independents bagged nine and two seats respectively.
The source said that administration of Union Territory of Ladakh would also soon nominate four councillors, which will take the Council's strength to 30.
