Sports festival under Flag Day program concludes

Samba, Oct 31: Concluding with Sports festival under Flag Day Programmes, today District Premier League under 19 Cricket Tournament-2020 at Rani Suchet Singh Sports Stadium Samba witnessed final match where Dhora Cricket Club (DCC) Nud emerged as winners of the Cricket tournament.
The event was concluded by Chief Guest Mukesh Singh-IPS, Inspector General of Police, Jammu Zone-Jammu accompanied by Rajesh Sharma-JKPS, SSP Samba. Besides, Aijaz Ahmed Zargar, Addl.SP Samba and all territorial officers of Samba Police, Officers from Civil Administration, prominent citizens, youth, students, family members of Martyrs, Media fraternity and other dignitaries also witnessed the occasion.
In above said Cricket tournament, 09 teams from across District Samba had participated and the matches were played in a highly professional manner under the supervision of trained staff provided by District Youth Services and sports department. Final match was played between Dhora Cricket Club (DCC) Nud Vs Shiva Medicos Cricket Club (SMCC) Ghaghwal at Rani Suchet Singh Sports Stadium Samba. Dhora Cricket Club clinched the District Premier League Cricket Tournament by winning the match by 26 runs. The Player of the winning team namely Vishav Chib was declared as Man of the Match.
Speaking on the occasion, IGP Jammu congratulated SSP Samba and his team for the successful culmination of Sports Festival being organized by Samba Police under Flag Day Programmes w.e.f. 21.10.2020 to 31.10.2020. He further added that this Cricket tournament was organized in the loving memory of J&K Police Martyrs who had made supreme sacrifice of their lives in the line of duty. Sports are a crucial part of growth and development. Through participation in sports and games, one can gain various skills, experience and confidence that are helpful for developing their personality. He said that it was a special feeling to witness the final match with players displaying the skills of high standards.
While speaking on the occasion, the SSP Samba said that organizing this tournament was an effort of Samba Police to channelize the energy of youth in positive direction and build a better society by keeping our youths away from drugs and other social evils. He further said that he was grateful to IGP Jammu for taking the time out of busy schedule and gracing the occasion with his presence. Later, prize distribution function was held in which trophies, medals, cricket kit, uniform kits were presented to winner & runner-up teams, cash prizes to the winner teams, runner up, Man of the Series and Man of the Match were also presented by the Chief Guest IGP Jammu. Moreover mementos were also presented to the Umpires and other field staff for their support during the matches. Lastly event culminated with refreshment/lunch for all the guests/participants.
