Various organizations working for disables called on Director Social Welfare

Akhnoor, Oct 31: A delegation of various organizations working for Disables in Jammu and Kashmir called on Samita Sethi Director Social Welfare to apprise her the various grievances of disable people. The delegation was comprised of Sushil Sharma Chairman JK Disabled Welfare Association, Umesh Sharma Chairman Disabled Care Foundation, Roshan Bhan Secretary Confederation of Physically Handicapped.
The delegation put forward the five major issues for consideration of Director. They demanded Composite Regional Centre at Jammu. They apprised director that Rights of Person with Disabilities Act 2016 is yet to be implemented in Jammu and Kashmir which is a grave unjustice with them. They demanded implementation of National Trust Act 1999. The delegation strongly demanded that all disables of JKUT should be benefited under Antodey Aan Yojna for all. They further said that they have approached the concerned authorities time and again for enhancement of their monthly pension but no one paid heed to their grievance. They said it is very difficult to settle daily needs with just one thousand rupees. They demanded their pension must be enhanced upto Rs 3000 atleast. Director Social Welfare Samita Sethi gave a very patient hearing to the delegation and assured them that she will leave no stone unturned to get their genuine issues resolved within time.
