Director Horticulture reviews developmental activities in districts

JAMMU, Oct 31: Director Horticulture Jammu, Ram Savak today chaired a meeting of Horticulture Development Officers of Jammu Division to review developmental activities being carried out during the current financial year in the Division.
During the meeting, all the officers were asked to constitute Farmers Producer Organization (FPO) of their area with the farmers having small land holding with the objective of improving their farm income through improved production, marketing and collective processing activities. The officers were asked to identify the locations for opening of sale counters for the sale of fruit plants and value added products in their respective vicinity.
The Director stressed upon all the Officers to put in dedicated efforts to make the High Density plantation a success, adding that the department is providing an incentive of Rs. 50000 per Ha and Rs. 13000 per kanal for the plantation of strawberry under CAPEX Budget. He further asked them to take effective steps for achieving all other targets including ongoing civil works.
He also instructed the officers to make all the public sector nurseries more viable and achieve the allotted targets in time for production of quality planting material.
During the meeting, certain issues were raised by the officers. The Director Horticulture gave a patient hearing and assured that all their genuine problems would be sorted out
Deputy Director Horticulture Jammu, Shafiqa Khalid, Assistant Director Horticulture Jammu, Accounts Officer and other officers attended the meeting.
