Ekta pledge held across Jammu division to mark Birth Anniversary of Sardar Patel

JAMMU, Oct 31: Rich tributes were today paid to Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel on his birth anniversary amid holding of Ekta pledge here across Jammu division.
The day is celebrated as Rashtriya Ekta Diwas/National Unity Day, to commemorate the great contribution of India’s Iron Man towards integration and unity of the country in post Independence era.
Divisional Commissioner, Jammu Sanjeev Verma paid rich tributes to Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel as he administered the unity pledge to the officers and officials.
Commissioner Secretary Forest, Ecology and Environment, Sarita Chauhan led the unity pledge taking ceremony attended by senior officers here at Civil Secretariat.
Kishtwar
District Administration Kishtwar, in collaboration with District Police and District Youth Services and Sports Department, organized a ‘Run for Unity’ from Chowgan Ground to celebrate the Ekta Diwas.
The run was flagged off by Senior Superintendent of Police, Dr. Harmeet Singh Mehta and Additional Deputy Commissioner Pawan Parihar.
Participants carried placards displaying slogans like- "Unity is Strength", "Aneekta mein Ekta." The unity run passed through Kuleed, Wasser, Zellna, Sangrambhatta and culminated at Char Chinar.
Poonch
A Run for Unity was organised by District administration Poonch in conjunction with the District Police to mark the ‘National Unity Day’.
The ‘Run for Unity’ was flagged off by Deputy Commissioner, Rahul Yadav in presence of Additional Superintendent of Police, Khalid Amin, CEO Tourism, Dr Mohammad Tanveer, District Youth and Sports Officer, Qasim Hussain and the other district heads of line departments.
The participants carried National flags, placards and banners to spread the message of National Unity. A Pledge for Unity was also taken by the participants.
Udhampur
Rashtriya Ekta Diwas was celebrated with fervour and enthusiasm at Sher-I –Kashmir Police Academy,(SKPA) Udhampur.
Dr. S. D. Singh Jamwal, IGP Security J&K / Director SKPA Udhampur took salute on the Ekta Diwas Parade and addressed the trainees, officers and staff of the Academy.
Later, Dr. S. D. Singh, read out the unity pledge which was jointly recited by all trainees, officers and staff.
Kathua
To commemorate National Unity Day (Rashtriya Ekta Diwas), unity pledge was held across the Kathua district. At District Headquarter, Deputy Commissioner, Om Parkash Bhagat administered the pledge of “Rashtriya Ekta” to the officers and officials.
Similar pledge taking ceremony was held in different government offices of the district.
Reasi
To commemorate the birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel and celebrate the Rashtriya Ekta Divas, district administration Reasi organized a tribute paying function.
Deputy Commissioner, Indu Kanwal Chib, paid rich tributes to Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel and administered unity pledge to the senior officers of the district administration present on the occasion.
Ramban
National Unity Day, 2020 known as “Rashtriya Ekta Diwas” was observed in district Ramban to commemorate birth anniversary of Sardar Patel.
District Development Commissioner (DDC), Nazim Zai Khan administered Ekta pledge to officers/ officials and other participants.
Among others ADC, Ashok Sharma, CPO, Dr. Kasturi Lal, ACR, Dhirender Sharma, ACD, Zameer Ahmed Rishu, DPO, Sunil Bhutyal, other officers and officials, besides common public participated in the programme.
In this regard, several events were organised by the government as well as private and political organizations in different parts of the district.
Meanwhile, similar tribute paying events and unity pledge ceremony were held by the government departments and agencies.
The officers and officials of Joint Directorate of Information and Public Relations, Jammu paid tributes to Sardar Patel and took a pledge to contribute their bit in preserving the values of unity in diversity, which are unique to Indian Nation.
Jammu Development Authority celebrated the Rashtriya Ekta Divas (National Unity Day) by holding Ekta pledge ceremony in the premises of JDA complex.
Vice Chairperson and officers of JDA along with the subordinate staff participated in the pledge taking ceremony.
Nehru Yuva Kendra Jammu held a Unity Pledge and paid tributes to Sardar Patel.
Among other official, State Director, Bikram Singh Gill; Dy Director S S Bedi and DYC Jammu Nisar Ahmed Butt participated.
A pledge ceremony to mark Rashtriya Ekta Diwas was also held at Directorate of Horticulture complex, Talab Tillo under the chairmanship of Director Horticulture, Ram Savak.
