People dismay in Jammu region over unemployment & new land laws for J&K: Manjit Singh
11/1/2020 10:15:05 PM
Early Times Report
VIJAYPUR, Nov 1: Expressing serious concern over increasing unemployment in J&K, Apni Party Provincial President and Former Minister Manjit Singh said that the new land law has led to feelings of alienation among the people of the Union Territory after being deprived of its rights.
"The implementation of wrong policies without taking into confidence political representatives has exposed a non-serious approach towards the suffering of the people and the J&K as a whole," said Manjit Singh. The former minister was speaking at the monthly meeting at Vijaypur.
Addressing Apni Party leaders and workers, the Apni Party Provincial President said that "There is anger among the people in Jammu especially against the new land laws which were notified recently by the Govt of India. These land laws have led to mental distress and agony of being neglected. The rights of the people must be protected and the controversial law should be revoked as early as possible," said Manjit Singh.
He said that "They have failed to give employment to the people especially in border areas. Drug addiction has become another challenge for the police and administration while the Govt has no policy for providing employment opportunities."
"On spot recruitment in the belt force of the border youth should be conducted in the central paramilitary and J&K Police. The Govt should come out with public friendly policy to win the hearts of the people instead of adopting policies which have grossly violated the interests of the actual residents," he said.
Not only this, he said, the administration has also allegedly given free hands to the non-local miners to extract minerals from the river beds in Jammu, Samba and Kathua districts.
"The local miners and tractor trolley operators are being harassed on the name of rules and the non-local miners are being allegedly preferred," Manjit Singh said, adding demanded that the restrictions must be lifted and locals be encouraged so that they can earn their livelihood as well as use minerals of J&K judicially.
He said that the administration is doing partially on the ground of certain considerations and it should be stopped. "Harassment of local miners and people dependent upon the trade should stop," he demanded and sought intervention of Lt Governor Manoj Sinha.
State Coordinator Madan Lal Chalotra, Saleem Alam, Babu Ram Bhagat, Bachan Choudhary, Capt Mohan Lal Sharma, Sarpanch Joginder Lal, Ex-Sarpanch Balwant Singh Nagra, Bhagat Sain Dass, Sohan Dutt, Sardar Bachan Singh, Master Lal Mohd, Ajid Hussain, Satpal among others attended the meeting of the Apni Party.
