Director Agriculture inspects functioning of paddy procurement centers in Kathua

JAMMU, Nov 10: Director Agriculture, Jammu, Inder Jeet today conducted the surprise visit of Kathua District to inspect the functioning of Paddy Procurement Centers (Mandis) at Chann Arorian, Palli and Bhajwal. Those who accompanied him include District Agriculture Officer (Extension) Kathua, Raju Mahajan, Subject Matter Specialist (DL), Krishan Kant, SDAO Dayalachak, Pradeep Sharma besides others. Director Agriculture while inspecting the Procurement Centers at said locations impressed on the concerned officials to put in every effort to avoid the unnecessary delay in procurement process so the farmers donot have to wait for extra time. He directed to recover uniform cleaning charges from the farmers for their produce as per rate fixed by the FCI. Director Agriculture Interacted with the farmers present at the procurement centers. Taking note of the occasional shortage of the gunny bags and payment related issues raised by the farmers, he assured to take up the issues with officials of Food Corporation of India (FCI) for early redressal. He directed the concerned officials to ensure timely payment of produce procured from the farmers as per MSP notified by the Government of India. Earlier, Director Agriculture visited the Seed Multipulication Farm, Burmal to inspect the Work of Pasteurised Mushroom Compost making plant being developed under Trikuta Mushroom Corridor Project where he passed the instructions to complete the pending civil works within 15 days so as to make the unit functional at the earliest. This will lead to increase in production and quality of mushroom crop in the district ultimately enhancing the economic returns. Meanwhile, Inder Jeet also inspected the under construction Permanent Procurement Mandi at Bhajwal, Kathua. He instructed the officials to expedite the construction work as this Procurement center after completion will act as unique facility for the farmers for Hassle free sale of their produce.
