Tangdhar road reopens; Dozens of far flung, remote villages remain cut off
11/17/2020 10:40:39 PM
Early Times Report
SRINAGAR, Nov 17: Traffic was restored to the border town of Tangdhar and few other far-flung and remote villages, including near the Line of Control (LoC), after remaining suspended for three days due to slippery road conditions and accumulation of snow on Tuesday.
However, three main roads -- Kupwara-Machil, Kupwara-Keran and Bandipora-Gurez -- in north Kashmir remained closed for the fourth successive day due to accumulation of two to three feet of snow.
"Traffic on Kupwara-Tangdhar road was allowed to ply on Tuesday morning after improvement in weather and clearance of about 1.5 feet of snow," an official of Police Control Room (PCR), Kupwara, told UNI over the phone.
He said the vehicular movement was also allowed towards few other remote and far-flung areas which are adjacent to Tangdhar.
He said snow clearing operation is going on war-footing on Kupwara-Keran and Kupwara-Machil roads. "It will take three to four days to put through traffic on these border towns," he added.
