| DPEO Rajouri holds meeting with Political representatives | | |

RAJOURI, Nov 17: District Panchayat Election Officer, Mohammad Nazir Sheikh on Tuesday convened a meeting with the representatives of different political parties to discuss issues related to smooth and successful conduct of the Panchayat by Polls and District Development Council elections, 2020 in the district. A threadbare discussion was held in the meeting with respect to the preparedness and guidelines issued by the Election Authorities for the District Development Council elections and Panchayat by-polls. The participants were apprised about the Model Code of Conduct and other guidelines, besides various issues related to the conduct of the elections in the district like the security of the contesting candidates, establishment of counting centres etc. The DPEO informed the political representatives that elaborate measures have been taken for the smooth conduct of the elections. He said that a foolproof mechanism has been put in place, besides ensuring synergized coordination between different departments involved in the process. The representatives of political parties were made aware about their role in encouraging the masses for maximum participate voter turnout. He appealed the political representatives to actively take part in the elections which would go a long way in further strengthening the democratic setup. Senior Superintendent of Police, Chandan Kohli; Additional Deputy Commissioner, Sher Singh; Deputy District Election Officer, Parveen Akhter; Election Naib Tehsildar, Surjeet Singh and representatives of different political parties were present in the meeting. |
