BJP, Gupkar leaders play hide and seek in J&K!
Lukka Chuppi

Early Times Report

Jammu, Nov 17: Even as the so called Peoples Alliance for Gupkar Declaration or PAGD recently held a series of rallies in Jammu province, the ruling Bharatiya Janta Party was that time seen active in Kashmir giving a feel of “Lukka Chuppi” to many people.
Interestingly when the Kashmir-based leaders and former Chief Ministers including Dr Farooq Abdullah, his son and NC President, Omar Abdullah and his counterpart from Peoples Democratic Party, Mehbooba Mufti travelled to Jammu, same time around, the BJP leaders from Jammu flew to Kashmir.
On the day when the Gupkar leaders were holding rallies in the winter capital of Jammu, senior BJP leader held conventions in the summer capital of Srinagar.
Sources said the two rivals managed such timings that there was no clash in their respective public activities in the twin capitals.
Observers said the two rival groups seem to be avoiding face off and letting each other be active. “The way BJP leaders rallied in Srinagar when the Kashmiri leaders were active in Jammu suggests that the two groups are playing a political hide and seek,” said a political analyst on the condition of anonymity.
It is pertinent to mention that a major team of Gupkar lobby including Abdullahs, Mehbooba Mufti and others including Sajad Lone and Muzaffar Shah held joint meetings in Jammu. They also jointly addressed media in Jammu.
The BJP, on the other hand, with some of the prominent faces from Jammu held rallies in Srinagar ahead of the DDC elections.
All the parties have decided to contest the polls. While the NC, PDP, and Peoples Conference will be holding elections under the banner of PAGD, they will be contesting against BJP.
The BJP, on the other hand, is looking ahead for support from some local allies in Jammu and Kashmir.
“There is a rivalry for elections but there’s also an apparent understanding," said a senior politician on the condition of anonymity.
