Mukti NGO urges govt to simplify life certificate procedure

Jammu, Nov 25: Highlighting the problems faced by elderly, old age, disable and infirm service pensioners in submitting Life Certificates, Mukti NGO have appealed the Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha to intervene and ease out these problems of the senior citizens.
In a memorandum addressed to Lieutenant Governor, Nidhi Sharma Chairperson of the organization have requested the government to simplify the procedure of submitting Mandatory Life Certificate by Pensioners in Treasury and Bank Branches.
Giving further details Nidhi informed that Mukti NGO have come across several retired government pensioners including bed ridden elderly people who drawing family pension are facing problems in submitting these Annual Life Certificates. She said presently the pensioners have to either visit the bank branch personally to appear before the bank manager to get a life certificate or attestation from a gazette officer is required.
In the Memorandum, the Mukti NGO have also requested the LG to authorize the elected representatives of the Urban and Rural Local bodies including the Municipal Councillors and Sarpanches to issue Life Ceritifcates to the elderly pensioner so that their pension is not stopped.
“Directions should also be issued to J & K Bank and Treasury department to provide Life Certificate issuance facility at door step of the pensioners”, the NGO’s request letter further demands.
