Ace skater Tarun gets Sher-e-Kashmir Sports Award

JAMMU, Nov 28: Tarun Gandotra an international skater, Sub Inspector in Jammu and Kashmir Police Department has got the prestigious Sher-e-Kashmir Sports Award in recognition to his outstanding performance in the field of sports (Roller Skating) alongwith Rs.50000 and sports kit. This is the first award ceremony in the COVID-19 times during which awards were handed over in a simple ceremony at Maulana Azad Stadium in Jammu.
Jammu & Kashmir Roller Skating Association President G. S Khurmi congratulated Tarun Gandotra for this achievement and encouraged him for future events also. Tarun Gandotra SI in JKP has played for J&K and country in various national and World/Asian Championships. Tarun is playing since 1995 i.e 25 years and represented erstwhile J&K State in nationals 15 times and got 33 medals including 13 gold, 15 silver and 5 bronze.
After showing excellence in the field of Roller Skating, he got the honour to represent Indian Team 10 times including Venezuela in 2003, Italy 2004, India 2006,China 2012,Italy 2016, China 2016,China Nanging 2017, Italy 2018, South Korea 2018 and Spain in 2019. Tarun Gandotra thanked Roller Skating Federation of India, Jammu & Kashmir Roller Skating Association and JKP Department for continuous encouragement and unconditional support.
