SPMR College of Commerce organises blood donation camp

Jammu, Nov 28: In the series of events to commemorate Constitution Day (Samvidhan Divas) as well as NCC day, today NCC (Naval and Infantry) Wings of Govt. SPMR College of Commerce, Jammu organized a blood donation camp in College Auditorium in collaboration with Post-Graduate Department of Transfusion Medicine, GMC Jammu where in NCC cadets of 1 J&K Naval Unit, and 2 J&K Boys Bn. donated their blood. The programme started with the bouquet presentation by the Principal of the College to the guests followed by NCC pledge by all the cadets to work towards upholding the unity of the nation and furthering noble of cleanliness. Col. P K Sinha Commanding officer 2 J&K Boys was the chief guest on the occasion while Dr. Meena Sidhu, Assoc.Professor & Head of the Department become the guest of honor and the function was presided over by the Principal of the college, Prof. R S Jamwal. Col PK Sinha in address to the cadets emphasized upon the significance of blood donation on regular basis in order to retain humanity and sustain life on this earth. He congratulated the cadets on this auspicious day and motivates them to donate blood.
Prof. R S Jamwal, Principal of the college, exhorted the cadets and staff member to voluntarily donate blood whenever they get an opportunity for this pious act to fulfill the social obligation. He further stressed upon the importance of blood donation in the prevailing situation of COVID-19. Commanding officer of 1 J&K Naval Unit, Cdr. Anil Raina, Sringar also online interacted and encouraged the cadets for such a noble cause.
A total of 57 cadets donated the blood, in which 6 Naval Cadets from GDC Samba , 3 Naval Cadets form GCW Gandhi Nagar, 4 Naval Cadets Govt. MAM College and rest cadets from the host college. One PI staff from Naval Unit and One SM from Infantry Unit also donated the blood.
The entire camp was coordinated and organized by the Prof. (Lt.) Savita Jamwal and Prof. (Sub Lt.) Joginder Kumar of Infantry and Naval wings of the college.
