| Water tank collapses 4 years after construction | | |  MS NAZKI

POONCH, Nov 29: Working of the government departments executing construction works once again came under clouds of suspicion as a PHE Overhead Water Tank constructed four years ago at Kasti Baloni in Mankote Tehsil of Mendhar Sub Division in Poonch district collapsed.
Sarpanch Baloni Naseem Akhter said the tank was constructed by the PHE Department after several requests to the concerned department. The work of the overhead tank was executed by PHE Department Mendhar, he said.
Sarpanch said that one could imagine the quality of material used for the construction which led to the collapse of the tank within four years.
Sarpanch demanded deterrent action against the officers of PHE department and officials of executing agency who were responsible for the construction of the tank using sub-standard material. He said that these officers have put the life and property of the residents at stake.
The locals alleged that the constructing agency used sub-standard material and that might be the reason of its collapse.
Meanwhile, AEE PHE Mendhar, Sudhir Sharma said that an enquiry into the matter will be conducted. |
