Polls Without Fear
11/29/2020 11:21:44 PM
The first phase of District Development Council elections passed off peacefully in Kashmir. It was for the first time in the past 33-years that Pakistan stooges had not called for election boycott, which had been a routine since the outbreak of militancy in the Valley since 1990.
People came out to vote in large numbers as this time arounds there was no threat of gun and the ones who could have orchestrated protests and pelted stones were nowhere to be seen.
Nearly 42% people exercising their franchise in Kashmir is an ample proof of the fact that masses are not interested in separatism and sedition that Pakistan and its stooges have been preaching during all these years.
The era of separatists has come to an end. They are no more relevant as the fear of gun is dying fast and the people too have realized that Azadi and Pakistan are illusions which were sold by the elements who were on the payroll of the neighbouring country.
People coming out to vote in large numbers in the first phase of DDC polls is an indication that in the coming phases participation of the people will be higher as everyone wants development, peace and prosperity. Jammu and Kashmir has witnessed enough of bloodshed and no one is interested in hollow slogans anymore.
Some of the mainstream leaders in Kashmir are trying to don the mantle of separatists and are out to disturb peace and tranquillity but they are being watched and if they don’t mend their ways they may end up behind the bars soon.
By holding the DDC polls, the Government of India has set the ball rolling for revival of democratic institutions in Jammu and Kashmir. In coming days more such exercises are likely to be held. The political scenario in J&K has changed completely since the abrogation of Article 370. The elements who are not interested in J&K’s integration with the country can take the highway and move out but the ones who want to hold tricolour close to their heart are welcome to come forward and become a part of the democratic process in Jammu and Kashmir.
New ways and avenues have opened in the newly carved out J&K UT, now it’s for the people to become a part of development. Supporters of secessionists and separatists have been made to eat a humble pie and they have become completely irrelevant.
