Various educational institutions observe World AIDS Day

Jammu, Dec 2: Several higher educational institutions across the Jammu region observed World AIDS Day by organizing awareness programmes.
Red Ribbon Club and Department of Zoology, GDC Bhaderwah in collaboration with the J and K AIDS Control Society, Department of Health and Medical Education, Govt. of Jammu and Kashmir observed the World AIDS Day 2020 under Red Ribbon Club Programme.
The event was celebrated to inculcate among the general masses the gravity of the problem and various preventive measures they need to adopt as responsible citizens of the state for controlling and checking the spread of the disease. The Day was celebrated under the supervision of Dr. Kuldeep Kumar Sharma, Principal GDC Bhaderwah and Dr. Wahied Khawar Balwan, Assistant Professor Zoology and Nodal Officer Red Ribbon Club.
Red Ribbon Club of Government Degree College Khour organised poster making competition on December 1st 2020 to celebrate World AIDS Day. The theme of programme was “Ending the HIV/AIDS epidemic resilience and impact”. The main motto behind celebrating the day was to raise awareness among students about AIDS (Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome) which is a disease caused due to the infection of Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV), which causes damage to the immune system. The programme was conducted under the dynamic leadership of Principal GDC Khour Prof. Hans Raj and organised by Dr. Devika Sharma. In poster making competition, Sonia Devi of Sem. 1st secured 1st place, Suman Verma of Sem. 1st secured 2nd place and Anshu Rajput of Sem. 1st secured 3rd place.
Red Ribbon Club, Stephens College of Nursing observed World Aids Day 2020 with great enthusiasm and fervours.
The faculty members & students of SCON attended virtual event which was conducted by National AIDS Control Organization (NACO) to commemorate the World Aids Day on the theme- Global Solidarity, Shared Responsibility. The Union Health Minister, Dr. Harsh Vardhan was the Chief Guest & Minister of State for Health & Family Welfare, Ashwani Kumar Choubey was the guest of honour for this virtual event. Dr. Kamal Saini IPS (IGP Retd.) & Satvinder Saini (Director SIPS) motivated the staff & students to cognizant the people to eradicate HIV/AIDS from the society. They appreciated the staff & students for their active participation in different Activities.
Red-Ribbon Club of GGM Science College, Jammu organized an inter-college poster-making/slogan-writing/essay- writing competition on World AIDS Day on 1st December, 2020 under the patronage of Dr. Ravender Tickoo, Principal, G.G.M Science College. Various students from different colleges participated in the above said competitions.
The convener of the programme was Prof. Amrit Kour Ishar and the organizing members were Dr. Babita Mahajan, Prof. Niti Chibber and Prof Asha Shamral all the participants were given e-certificates.
