Mayor inaugurates development works

Jammu, Dec 2: Continuing his drive to provide better development & civic amenities to the people of Jammu City, Chander Mohan Gupta, Mayor Jammu Municipal Corporation along with Suneet Kumar Raina Councillor inaugurated construction of various deep drains namely “Drainage scheme of Karan Nagar & its adjoining areas under Languishing “by UEED Department.
Ashwani Seth Executive Engineer, Ashwani Khajuria Assistant Executive Engineer (UEED), K.K. Dutta Junior Engineer UEED as well as Radha Sharma President Mahila Morcha Jammu West, Madam Asha Gupta Secretary BJP Jammu West, Kamini Gupta Distt General Secretary Mahila Morcha Jammu West, Madam Jyoti Bhat Janipur Mandal President Mahila Morcha, Vansh Mahajan Additional Social Media and IT Incharge BJYM Jammu & Kashmir, Deepak Kumar Mandal Secretary Janipur, Madan Lal and other Prominent inhabitants of the Ward were also remained present during the inauguration function which was held in a very simple manner keeping in view the coronavirus pandemic.
Speaking on the occasion, Mayor told that construction of of deep drains at Karan Nagar as well as at Dounthly Panjtirthi, Jammu has been executed by UEED with an estimate cost of Rs. 82 Lakh only and locals / passersby will feel a sigh of relief due to construction of much needed deep drains in the locality as dirty water often enters in the residential area causing great hardships for them and has become a breeding places for mosquitoes inviting large number of diseases due to stagnant water.
Later Mayor alongwith Parmod Kapahi councilor of ward 14 also kick started the construction work of footpaths by laying beautiful / durable tiles over it from Bhagwati Nagar Chowk towards the road leading to Base Camp of Shree Amar Nath Shrine Board, Bhagwati Nagar, Jammu. Sardar Gurcharn Singh executive engineer Public Works Department alongwith his Supervisory Staff & concerned contractor were also remained present there.
Mayor said that it is a very prestigious project of PWD which includes construction of footpaths on both sides of the road as well as by constructing well furnished dividers between the road upto SOS Home situated in ward no: 31 with an estimate cost of Rs 8 crore and the work of which has been undertaken by the PWD.
He further said that it is a very busy road as various religious spots as well as number of Government Institutions exists in this area and it is the long pending demands of the Public to take remedial measures to ease the alarming traffic situation in this locality.
