Early Times Report
JAMMU, Dec 02: Residents of Kinthroo village in Kishtwar district are deprived of basic facilities like road, health care and bridges even after J&K's transition into a union territory.
According to the details available with Early Times, residents of Kinthroo village crossed the river Chenab on ropes so that they could cast their votes during 2nd phase of DDC polling in Padder area of Kishtwar District on Tuesday. They had to do so as there is no footbridge which could connect the village with the other areas.
We saw this unique picture at the time when we are taking about Development- but the tribals are still struggling for their survival- here one can see in the video available with Early Times, the Gujjar tribes are crossing mighty river at the cost of risking their life as if there is no value for human life even in 21st century.
For casting their vote at the designated polling station which was kept for the people of Kithroo, an 8 KM away from their camps. In the video a man can be seen crossing the river on thin rope while we zoom in the video, we can also see how the others are waiting for their turn.
It's not only men, but women including old age, are also so hard and courageous as they too are habitual and freely - without any fear cross the river on a single wire which we have often seen in films - but here you will see live picture and videos who are practicaly utilising this method since they have not been provided by any foot bridge facility and have no option to cross the river.
After casting their votes they immediately rushed back when they saw fire broken out in the nearby forest area so as to act as its bearer to stop the fire spreading as they feel forests are their own homes and they have to protect it at any cost.
Speaking to Early Times, social activist Abdul Majid Bichoo said that they raised the matter about the plight of these people at several forums, but it seems as everyone has turned blind eye towards them. "I hope that the administration led by Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha takes a note of the plight of these people and sanctions at least wooden foot bridge for the people living in the area."
