DDCs elections: Cong candidates annoyed with high-command's apathetic attitude
12/2/2020 11:51:33 PM
Early Times Report
jammu, Dec 02: While as polling for the second phase of eight-phased District Development Councils (DDCs) has been completed on Tuesday, it appears that Congress high command has abandoned its J&K unit because not even a single leader from Centre has visited the Union Territory (UT).
Highly placed sources said that there was strong anger among party candidates- who are in the fray for DDCs elections, against the 'indifferent and apathetic' attitude of the high command.
"These elections are very important and not less than Assembly polls due to involvement as a large number of voters would cast their votes but it is very unfortunate that our high command has no time to encourage us", a Congress candidate for DDCs elections told Early Times. Wishing anonymity he said that the party was losing its ground in most of the States due to such an attitude of the high command.
Sources said that many contesting candidates have approached UT leadership to seek all types of help from the Centre to fight BJP, which has been utilizing all its resources to win these elections. "What to say of giving any help, Congress high command has even refused to discuss on-going DDCs elections in J&K because most of the central leaders are busy in infighting", sources said.
Sources said that it was all due to the apathetic attitude of the central leadership that most of the UT level senior leaders were also half-heartedly campaigning for party candidates.
Unlike BJP, senior Congress leaders avoided joining the electoral battle due to fear of defeat. And now the attitude of the high command has further deteriorated the situation.
On the condition of anonymity, a senior Congress leader said that during the last one month, especially after the result of Bihar assembly elections, the party has become headless because no one was ready to shoulder responsibility.
