Early Times Report
jammu, Dec 02: In a bid to bring in much-needed transparency in the system, the New Delhi has decided to start a "mega probe" into complaints of corruption against Kashmiri politicians, who are accused of years of loot.
Sources said the corridors of power have already discussed the matter with Lieutenant Governor, Manoj Sinha.
Sources said the names of six top most politicians have been shortlisted for the "first phase of the mega war against corruption."
Sources said the Modi government has got access to clinching evidence, which establishes corruption charges against such prominent politicians in Kashmir.
Sources said all the six such faces would be booked in the coming days. "The cases will be filed one by one," said a source in the government privy to the plan.
Sources said the cases would be filed and probed by the Central Bureau of Investigations. "The cases will be initially filed by the CBI," said a source.
Official sources said regional investigation agencies like the Anti Corruption Bureau of Jammu and Kashmir Government and also the Crime Branch are being asked to coordinate with the central agency as and when needed.
"The local agencies had already been probing such cases and if they have any details linked to the cases which they (CBI) will file, all such details will be shared with the central agency through a specialized protocol that is being formulated," said a senior official on the condition of anonymity.
Sources said there are numerous complaints of politicians have property disproportionate to their known sources of income but that the exercise would be started on netas against whom "prima facie" is enough to file cases.
It is pertinent to mention that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has already pledged to weed out corruption from the Jammu and Kashmir and that filing of the cases would be a part of the same strategy.
