SARA holds awareness pogramme on menstrual hygiene

Jammu, Dec 3: ‘THE–SARA’ a Registered Non-Profit Organization under its ‘Mission Compassion’ through its ‘Health is Wealth’ initiative carried out awareness programme on Menstrual Health & Hygiene at Nari Niketan R.S Pura Jammu. Programme was attended by the female inmates of the Nari Niketan. During the programme volunteers at ‘The – SARA’ Deepshikha Sharma and Summer Shameem Student Social Workers from the College of Social Work Nirmala Niketan Mumbai delivered lectures and carried out activities pertaining to Menstrual Health & Hygiene. Awareness lectures underlined the importance of girls knowing how to manage their personal hygiene in particular during their periods to avoid infections. Participants were also sensitized on various complications arising out of lack of menstrual hygiene, namely RTI and infertility. On the occasion sanitary pads were also distributed among the inmates of the Nari Niketan. Saroj Superintendent Nari Niketan and Vikrant Narwalia Superintendent Bal Ashram & Juvenile Home were also present on the occasion and thanked ‘THE – SARA’ and its volunteers for the Noble initiative.
