Mayor, his team distributes dustbins among shopkeepers

JAMMU, Jan 6: With a view to maintain better sanitation and hygienic conditions in the various markets of Jammu and also to stop disposal of garbage on roads, Chander Mohan Gupta , Mayor Jammu Municipal Corporation along with Anil Kumar Masoom councilor of ward no 10 today distributed dustbins among the shopkeepers of Raj Tilak road and Mohalla Paharian Jammu under Swacch Bharat Mission.
Vimal Gupta, President Purani Mandi Shopkeepers Association, Nikkha Shah, Sandeep Kumar, Romesh Gupta, Vishu partap, Rahul Kumar, Pawan Sharma, Diler Singh & other shopkeepers of the aforesaid, markets as well as Sardar Hardeep Singh, I/C Sanitation officer,. Sameer Bali, Sanitary Inspector of the ward, concerned Sanitary Supervisor & other field staff of JMC were also accompanied the mayor during the programme.
Speaking on the occasion, Mayor said that about 275 dustbins have been distributed in this market today which is situated just in the heart of the city and it is one of the oldest markets of Jammu and people from various parts of J&K visit here for shopping purposes.
Mayor appealed to the shopkeepers, hoteliers and other businessmen not to throw garbage, filth, polythenes & other waste materials on roads, lanes and corners and handover the same only to designated vehicles /autos of JMC which have been exclusively meant for this purpose and also make people aware of the fine and penalties to be imposed on defaulters and violators as per Municipal Bye laws for littering and open dumping of garbage including (C&D) waste etc. and appeal to the general public to come forward & join hands with JMC so that the aim of Swachh Bharat mission can be achieved
The market association also assured the JMC Mayor & his team that they will fully cooperate to the department for maintaining sanitation upto the satisfactory level.
