EARLY TIMES REPORT

JAMMU, Jan 6: The continuous delay being made by the Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) Jammu in declaring final results of Bachelor of Education Degree of in-service teachers has diminished their promotion opportunities.
Aggrieved teachers informed the Early Times that the undue delay by the IGNOU in declaring results has created strong resentment among the teaching community, as thousands of Government teachers who were hopeful of their promotions benefit with the help of BEd degree.
“IGNOU has been making unjustified delay in declaration of B. Ed. result of in-service teachers, who had pursued the course through SSA on the official directions of the School Education Department during the session 2018-19,” they added.
They further alleged that already the B. Ed course of two years of duration had consumed three years and still there is no hope seems in near future of its completion thereby many in-service teachers are likely to lose their opportunity to get promotion due to callous and negligent attitude of IGNOU as well as of the School Education Department who are sleeping over this matter.
Although the in-service teachers, who are pursuing B. Ed, have completed term end examination and submitted all the required assignments but still the result is pending due to the reasons best known to the IGNOU/SSA authority, they alleged.
Interestingly, the teachers, who had pursued B. Ed courses from other universities, had completed within a specified time period but many teachers, who were directed by the School Education authorities to get enrolled through IGNOU are still unsure of their result. “It is very shocking that despite a fixed time period for deceleration of various results in IGNOU but in the case of result of in-service teachers, the result for B. Ed is being delayed unnecessarily,” they maintained.
