| Udhampur Court denies bail under POCSO Act | | |

UDHAMPUR, Jan 7: Principal Sessions Judge Jammu ML Manhas has rejected the bail application of Lakhvinder Singh of Majalta under Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.
The allegation against the accused was that he had committed rape upon a minor girl and he is facing trail under section 376 RPC and Section ¾ POSCO Act.
Prosecutor Inderjeet Lal Sharma for the state vehemently opposed the bail application of accused on the grounds that accused has been arrested for raping a minor and considering seriusnous of offence no bail can be granted to accused at this stage .
After hearing the Ld counsel for accused and public prosecutor for State court court observed that keeping in mind the nature and seriousness of the offences, character of evidence and it that statement under section 342 CrPc are being recorded bail could not be granted at this stage . With these observations court rejected bail.
