August 5 decision widened gap between J&K, Delhi: Mehbooba Mufti
Says her father stood for peace

Early Times Report
ANANTNAG, Jan 7: Former Chief Minister and PDP President Mehbooba Mufti on Thursday said that Delhi's decision to abrogate Article 370 has widened the gap between Jammu Kashmir and New Delhi.
Speaking to media persons after paying obeisance at father's grave in Padshahibagh Bijbehara, Mehbooba Mufti said, "Jammu Kashmir was said to be crown of the Country but BJP misused its majority and put the people under the mountain of miseries. I think that the decision of 5th August 2019 has widened the gap between Jammu Kashmir and the country."
While remembering her father late Mufti Mohmmad Syeed, Mehbooba said that her father's vision was the only solution to the present crisis.
"Mufti Sahab's vision and farsightedness is praise worthy. He used to say 'Grenade se naa goli se, baat baneygee boli see' and his vision is the only solution to the present situation and can bring Jammu and Kashmir out of this bloodshed" she said.
Quoting her father, Mehbooba Mufti said that reconciliation and making the borders 'irrelevant' was mandatory for resolving all political problems and for ensuring peace in the whole region.
"My father would always press for dialogue between India and Pakistan and good relationships between both the countries. He wanted a ceasefire on borders, dialogue, reconciliation and making the borders irrelevant so I think his vision is still relevant and can bring peace," she said, adding her father also stood for peace.
Demanding a dialogue for the resolution of Kashmir issue, Mehbooba Mufti said that the government in New Delhi must underline the fact that a nation can't be silenced for a long period of time. "Remember you can't suppress a nation for long. You can imprison a person but not his ideology," she said
She was accompanied by several party leaders and newly elected DDC members during her visit.
