DC initiates training-cum-awareness campaign, holds training session

RAMBAN, Jan 8: Deputy Commissioner (DC) Ramban, Nazim Zai Khan has initiated the training-cum-awareness campaign for effectively implementing Forest Rights Act, 2006 across the district Ramban.
Under the campaign Forest Division Ramban today organized a training cum awareness session at conference hall, Maitra Ramban for field functionaries of Revenue, RDD and Forest department.
The training was attended by ACR Ramban, Dherinder Sharma, SDM Gool, Giasul Haq, DFO Ramban, Dr. Rajan Singh, BDO Gool, BDO Sangaldan, Naib Tehsildars, Range Officer Gool along Foresters, Patwaris and VLWs.
At the onset, SDM Gool discussed the modalities for effective implementation of provisions of Forest Rights Act. He directed the Rural Development Department to formulate Forest Right Committees (FRCs) well in time besides stressing on imparting training to FRC members.
He directed the Rural Development Department to conduct the Gram Sabhas across the district to formulate effective Forest Rights Committees (FRC) besides ensuring participation of PRI members from all three tier of Panchyati Raj System.
Earlier DFO Ramban gave a detailed powerpoint presentation on the provisions of the Act to sensitize the participant about prescribed necessary measures to implement the Act.
The trainees were briefed in detail about the salient features of the Act and the rules including the preamble, the forest dwelling communities, the constitution and functions of the 3-tier system of committees at the district, sub divisional and gram Panchayat level and the procedure to be followed for inviting, acknowledging and processing the claims under the Act.
