DC inspects progress on 1000 MW Pakkal Dul HEP

KISHTWAR, Jan 8: Deputy Commissioner Kishtwar Ashok Sharma today visited 1000 MW Pakkal Dul Hydro Electric Power project construction site to inspect the progress of work and to redress the grievances of the people of project affected areas and workers.
He was accompanied by Additional Deputy Commissioner, Pawan Parihar, Chief General Manager, CVPP, P. B Jain; Xen Marwah, Mohammad Aslam Lone; NT Dachhan Bashir Ahmed, besides officers of JP Company among others.
During the inspection of work, the Deputy Commissioner asked the COP Jai Prakash Associates Ltd to expedite the pace of work in order to ensure the timely completion of the project.
He also interacted with project affected families and gave a patient hearing to various demands and issues of the people. They demanded release of the lease rent, payment of pending compensation of fruit and non fruit bearing plants, inclusion of the left out families in RR plan, pending payments of compensation for damaged houses near the project, preference in employment to locals among others.
The DC assured them that their genuine issues/grievances shall be redressed in a time bound manner. He directed Tehsildar Dachhan to evacuate the illegally raised temporary sheds and wooden stocks on acquired land at right bank of the river at Dangduru.
The CGM, CVPP was also asked to place indent for acquisition of additional 23 kanal land at Khraipaknu for smooth completion of the project.
To redress the grievances of workers, the DC informed that the regular monthly meeting of a committee which include the concerned collector , Assistant Labour Commissioner and Dy.SP Headquarters Kishtwar shall be held at project site.
On the issue of the recruitment of the local youths in the HEP, the DC said that a committee to conduct recruitment transparently shall be constituted soon and he will personally monitor the process.
The direction for identifying the land for new graveyard for the rehabilitated residents of Soarbati was also given.
