3 residential house gutted in Marwah

KISHTWAR, Jan 8: In a tragic fire incident, three residential houses were completely gutted in a devastating fire incident in Nawapachi area of Marwah Tehsil in Kishtwar District.
As per the details available with Early Times, at around 12.30 PM, a fire was broke out at Nawapachi Village wherein, in one of the houses due to explosion of an inverter battery on the first floor of the house caught fire. The fire was quickly spread to top floor and to neighbouring houses.
As soon as the incident took place, the villagers immediately rush to the rescue while at the same time an Army column from 11 RR stationed at the village immediately rushed to the site and began extinguishing fire with all the available equipment. Subsequently local civilians and Police also joined in the efforts and finally the fire was brought under control. Due to the fire, two houses were severely damaged wherein first floor and roof of the houses was burnt while the ground floor was saved. Fire of third house was controlled in time thus the house was saved with partial damages.
As per official sources, the victims were identified as Bashir Ahmed Lone, Teacher at Anyar Primary school, Mohammad Amin Lone, Teacher at Richhal Primary School and Mohammad Shafi Lone, Farmer whose House though caught fire, but was saved with timely intervention and efforts of the army, police and locals There was no loss of life owing to quick action by the teams of 11 RR.
The area is without roads and communication and remains cut of from the rest of the country for 4/5 months during winter. The area also lacks fire tender services since despite repeated pleas for opening of the same.
It is pertinent to mention that in serious fire incidents in Kishtwar District, several villagers including Ongaie Padder, Margi, Suknie in Warwan were wiped out from the map in devastating fire incidents in recent pasts.
