Jugal reviews status of ongoing NABARD projects in home constituency

JAMMU, Jan 8: Member Parliament, Jugal Kishore today called on R K Srivastava, CGM NABARD, to discuss the status of ongoing NABARD projects/activities, in the UT of J&K and particularly in home constituency, Jammu.
The Team NABARD briefed him about the activities of NABARD in the UT as well as in Home Constituency Jammu.
The CGM informed him that major function of NABARD in the UT is to provide loan to UT government for building rural infrastructure. He informed that so far NABARD has sanctioned 3785 projects involving an amount of Rs. 6,821 crore against which UT government has availed assistance of Rs. 5700 crore.
The MP was further informed that during the last 5 years, 226 projects amounting to Rs 581.19 crore have been sanctioned in home constituency, Jammu.
The CGM further informed that NABARD provided refinance assistance to banks and highlighted that this year NABARD sanctioned Rs. 150 crore to Jammu and Kashmir Grameen Bank to ensure that credit flow to agriculture sector is not adversely affected due to COVID-19.
The CGM also highlighted the collaboration with SKUAST- Jammu and Srinagar for transfer of technologies to farmers for addressing the issues faced by them. He highlighted few ambitious projects NABARD has sanctioned like hydroponics-based fodder & vegetable cultivation, creation of Bee- village in Reasi District and high density of cultivation of Saffron in Pulwama.
During the discussion, the MP enquired about the Central Sector Scheme of FPOs.
Surender Singh, GM informed that the empanelment of CBBOs is under process and around 46 FPOs will be promoted in due course of time.
Discussions were also held on the on-going projects sanctioned in Jammu constituency. These include two FPOs promoted, each in Jammu & Samba districts. He was informed that five DPR mode projects are currently under implementation in Jammu & Samba districts, while climate change project has been sanctioned under NAFCC for Balwal block of Jammu district.
The MP was further informed are at various stages of completion, like watershed project under WDF in Rajouri District, TDF project in Rajouri, two SDPs on Medical and Nursing Healthcare Assistance & Plumbing and Sanitation in Samba District and SDP on Incense sticks making 'Waste to Wealth' in Jammu District, SHG/JLG projects in Jammu, Samba, Rajouri & Poonch districts, LEDP on Dress Designing & MEDP on Kitchen Garden in Samba District.
